This reminds me of the MTT2K winning movie: What if Khan Academy was Made In Japan? The article noted that across countries, teaching tended to be done the same way, which surprised them. The “second truth” was that … there’s more than one way to teach effectively. The third was “Although teachers across
the high-achieving countries employ a variety of strategies and routines, the
effect of these strategies and routines was similar across the high-achieving
countries: somehow the teachers found a way to engage students in active
struggle with core mathematics concepts.”
At any rate… this may be my food for thought on tomorrow’s little drive to Cleveland…
