Is math gibberish?

Seems the software “Mathgen” spewed forth enough words and equations and citations and references to look enough like real research to be accepted by waht its write-up on slashdot.com calls “ one of the many low-tier ‘open-access’ research mathematics journals. ”   

Two thoughts:  First, this supports the claim by many students that really, this stuff doesn’t mean anything.

Second, it reminds me that online opportunities often do *not* reach the potential claimed, whether it’s a “university” or online lessons or “journals.”   Of course, it doesn’t “matter” if nobody cares, but kindly don’t be confused when people *aren’t* really learning well…
